     The Law Office of J. Chance Smith understands that we all live in Texas and public transportation is not readily available.  You NEED to be able to drive. 
     An occupational driver license is an option for people who have had their license suspended or revoked for administrative reasons (DPS) or criminal reasons (DWI).

What we  will need from you:

  1.  SR-22 - Courts require you to have an SR-22 Insurance Policy; high risk insurance
  2. Copy of your current DL or ID card
  3. Completed Paperwork from our Office
  4. Payment of Legal Fees and Filing Fees

1.  Employment Needs - Driving to and from work
2.  Educational Purposes - Driving to and from school
3.  Essential Household Duties - groceries, etc.

Consequences of driving
on a suspended license

Driving on a suspended, invalid, or revoked license can have serious consequences, some are as follows:
  1.  Citation w/ max fine of $500.00
  2. Suspension of DL (DWLI citation caries Two Yr Suspension)
  3. Jail Time (2nd DWLI is a Class B Misdemeanor)

The Process:

The reason your license was revoked or suspended will determine the amount of time it takes to get an occupational filed and completed.  On average the process will take anywhere from 15 to 30 days.
